CHAMPIONSHIP ARENA FOOTBALL FRANCHISE RELOCATING TO KEARNEY: IDAHO HORSEMEN REBRAND AS THE TRI-CITY HORSEMEN

KEARNEY, NE — Professional arena football is coming to central Nebraska. Following a one-season operational hiatus, the Idaho Horsemen franchise has announced its official relocation to Kearney, Nebraska, where the team will be renamed the Tri-City Horsemen. Entering its seventh competitive season under Owner and Head Coach Reynolds, the team will call the Viaero Center home and partner with Zawyer Sports & Entertainment (ZSE) for sales and operational support.

Despite inaccurate rumors circulating on various social media last week, the Horsemen organization would like to clarify that they stepped away from the National Arena League (NAL) after deciding to be fiscally responsible with this relocation. The team is charting a bold new direction and has made the strategic decision to join the American Arena League.

The New League

The American Arena League (AAL) was established in 2018 and is entering its 7th season. Under new ownership since 2022, the league is consistently growing and elevating its brand in the arena football landscape. In 2026, teams like the Columbus Lions and Wheeling Miners left the National Arena League (NAL) and joined the AAL. In 2025, the Lions, Miners, & the Horsemen all competed in the NAL, but Horsemen was not scheduled to compete against either of these teams during the season. The Horsemen will join these two teams in the AAL strengthening the AAL roster in 2027. Five other teams will be making their AAL inaugural season debut with other teams speculated to join from other leagues after their respective seasons.

A New Home: The Viaero Center

The Tri-City Horsemen will showcase their high-octane brand of football at the Viaero Center. This premier 5,000-seat multi-purpose arena serves as a central hub for sports and entertainment in the region. The move promises an elevated game-day experience for Tri-City fans, featuring unmatched sightlines and modern amenities.

Continuing a Championship Tradition

On the turf, Coach Reynolds brings an incredible 41-22 franchise lifetime record to Nebraska. Over six competitive seasons, the Horsemen established themselves as a perennial powerhouse, earning three championship appearances and capturing two league titles. Notably, the team has defended its turf fiercely, suffering only (7) seven home losses in franchise history.

The Tri-City Horsemen plan to continue this fierce winning tradition in Kearney while remaining dedicated to building a family-friendly, community-based sports team.

Open Tryouts: The team will host open player tryouts in September, stay tuned for more information to be released.
Early Bird Tickets: 2027 Season Tickets will be on sale soon with a great introductory deal of $99 (6 Home Games ). Fans can secure their seats online at www.gohorsemen.com or ETIX.com. Season tickets will be distributed after the 2027 AAL season schedule is released.
